2nd Product Of The Day. Again. 8 Months Apart.
Celebrating consistency.
A breakdown of our Product Hunt launch
On Saturday, we hit #2 Product of the Day. Again. 🙃
Eight months after our first launch.
First of all, thank you to all of you who voted for Pretty Prompt.
It’s amazing to see how much people love this tool.
Today I’m not only celebrating the ranking. I’m celebrating consistency.
80 versions to get to v1.0
On May 31st, we shipped an MVP.
A real “let’s see what happens” version.
It took 80 versions to get to Pretty Prompt v1.0.
Still just us, two founders.
Still scrappy.
Still building in public.
Pretty Prompt 1.0 has a lot more functionality than the original MVP.
But in its core, does the same: improves prompts in a click 👇
Some learnings
Getting to #1 is cool. Gives you good PR.
But hitting the same spot again is harder.
Here are a few things this second launch made very clear for us:
—
Consistency compounds.
It’s probably the most powerful thing in startups.
More than getting it right the first time. More than having a big brand.
More than knowing how to code.
It’s the layer underneath everything else.
For example:
It’s easy to post once. It’s hard to keep posting.
It’s easy to throw up a landing page. It’s hard to keep improving it.
It’s easy to spin up a Lovable project using Pretty Prompt. It’s hard to iterate on it.
Same with Product Hunt. It’s easy to say “let’s launch”.
It’s hard to hit the same spot twice.

Community is where brand starts.
Brand doesn’t start with a logo or a landing page. It starts with people.
And community is what keeps you alive.
It becomes your marketing. Your upvotes.
Your reviews. Your word of mouth.
And this matters more than ever on Product Hunt.
You never know who else will launch the same day as you.
We ended up with more votes than Vercel and Google 🙃
I went to sleep at 3 of the day… Woke up as top 2 🎉
Community is everything.
—
Simplicity is harder than shipping features.
We honestly didn’t think we nailed it as cleanly this time as we did on our first launch.
But people still resonated with the product.
Nika even wrote: “You nailed the tagline.”
That meant more than the ranking. Took a lot of writing to get there 📝
Launch page
For us, the biggest lever was always making sure users understand the same three things:
What the product does
How it does it
What value they actually get
We tried to map it like this:
Product name + tagline → what it does
Description + screenshots + video → how it works and why it matters
Everything else is just decoration.
Some real numbers, for context:
On launch day, we got 279 upvotes. We’re now at 326 (you can still vote here)
51 comments → This is super important
Answer every single comment personally
People care that the founders care 🙃
It’s not difficult. Just takes time. Still do it.
25,000+ users
400,000+ prompts improved
4.9/5 rating across 200+ reviews on Chrome, AppSumo, and Product Hunt
The best growth hack? Just keep showing up.
There are a lot of great posts about Product Hunt launches. These three helped me the most:
What do successful Product Hunt launches have in common? by Nika
Round Two on Product Hunt: What to Do and Not Do for a Successful Launch (I wrote this one 🙋♂️)
The impact post-launch:
Still working out how many new users came from Product Hunt (analytics below)
However, we did see quite a few conversions to paid users with the Product Hunt discount code (live until Feb 14)
We grew 5.80% the week of the launch
For context, anything over 5% weekly is amazing and very hard to maintain
I added a banner at the top of the site with a countdown redirecting users to Product Hunt on launch day
I also added the discount code as a one-click copy button with a toast, so users could still redeem it even if they didn’t land on the Product Hunt page
Final thoughts
Something that surprised me:
On launch day, I got a dozen messages from people trying to sell services that promise upvotes.
Don’t do it.
You risk getting your campaign taken down
You want to win because people love the product, not because you paid for it
Fake comments don’t help you improve your product
And because not everything in building is serious…

We ship code. We talk to users. And we have fun.
If you’re planning a Product Hunt launch, I’d love to hear what you’re doing and if this article helped in any way!
(I can walk you through the exact steps we took with example posts, and more.)
If you haven’t tried Pretty Prompt, now is a good time ✨

My favorite review of the week
“Pretty Prompt is dead simple (Chrome extension, press “Tab” to improve prompts in any LLM), and it has quickly become one of my favourite products.” - Eli Rezinsky.
